Nicole Cooke is the Top Women

Welsh cycling pro Nicole Cooke is officially the top women in the cycling scene. Just six weeks after snatching the champion title at the 2008 Beijing Olympics road race, Cooke won gold at the 2008 UCI Road World Championships.
Just 150 metres from the finishing line, Cooke stuck on to Marianne Vos’ wheel and overtook her just before the line.
“I think it will take a long time for this achievement to sink in,” said Cooke, who is the first woman to win a world and Olympic road race title in the same year.
“After achieving my main objective of the season in Beijing we started the race very relaxed and today I just tried to do my best.” She added, “At the end of the race I decided I would give everything I had all the way to the finish line, and that’s exactly what I did.”
2008 has been a wonderful year for Nicole Cooke.
